Help is available

The Behavioral Health Referral Center's hours are 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily. Assistance with referrals is available at the inpatient behavioral health unit outside of those times.

Appointments are not required but clients are encouraged to call before coming to the Referral Center on the Fourth Floor of SMDC Medical Center's Miller-Dwan Building at 502 E. Second St. in Duluth. The 24-hour crisis line number is (218) 723-0099 or (888) 826-0099.

Our Referral Center and crisis line are staffed by psychiatric nurses and therapists experienced in assessing and managing all types of mental health problems. These include emotional distress, panic and depression as well as alcohol and drug problems. Our staff can provide assessment and arrange for the most effective level of care, if needed.
