Spiritual care

At SMDC Medical Center, we know that serious illness and unexpected health issues can bring a search for meaning in people’s lives. At times of crisis, people may search for connection to something that lies beyond them.

We know people find meaning and purpose in different ways. When confronted with a crisis or the realities of a serious illness, our personal spiritual beliefs may help us cope, give us strength, and make it possible for us come to terms with our situation. Chaplaincy Services helps patients with rituals and sacraments, ethics consultations, and grief.

Spiritual care is focused attention on those things that nurture the inner self. It’s about compassion. It’s about hope. It honors personal and religious convictions, supporting an individual’s search for meaning.

Our chaplains journey with patients and families during difficult times. They are companions each step of the way. They help bridge the gap connecting the body to the mind and spirit. They help guide patients and families on the road back to spiritual and emotional health.

Our chaplains offer spiritual care that enhances the treatment of illness and disease. Supporting patients, their families, and the staff who cares for them is at the center of what we do. We understand that standing with patients in the midst of crisis is sacred work.

Chaplains are available for emergencies around the clock.
